Stump removal, or clearing may not be required, depending on your location, but it can be essential for various reasons. However, if you reside in a neighborhood with a homeowners association (HOA) or even private property within a municipality, the requirements may be different.

Do I need a permit to remove a stump?

Greenville, South Carolina requires a permit to remove trees from non-single-family zoned properties. Permits are not required for trees on single-family zoned private property. However, if the property was purchased after June 2021, a permit is required. The stump is (most likely) included with the permit pulled by the tree removal service.

Can I replant where the stump was located?

Replanting another tree in the same spot is not advisable. It would be better to sow grass seed, or grow small plants and shrubs there. Waiting for two to three years for the remaining roots to decompose and the area to stabilize and naturally recompact will lead to better outcomes.

Before you need Stump Blaster.

It's important to regularly trim trees to promote their health and symmetry, and to avoid branches from growing too large or heavy. This habit can decrease the chances of severe winds breaking brances during storms or getting blown over, and also minimize the risk of lightning striking your trees. Happy pruning for healthier, more resilient trees!

Can trees be protected from lightning?

If you have irreplaceable old-growth trees in your yard, you can help safeguard them from the risk of lightning strikes by installing a lightning protection system. This system uses copper wires and ground rods to effectively redirect electrical charges from lightning into the ground, thereby safeguarding the trees from potential damage and hopefully your need for a stump grinding service.
